About

hunting dog

In the fall of 2000 I got my first “real” hunting dog, a Liver and White Brittany, Ruby. I’d grown up hunting in New York State and Central Illinois. Grouse and Pheasant. The dogs I went out with were mostly farm dogs (savvy in their own rights) or friends dogs. Some were pretty smart, many were along for a day outdoors and not much more.

I’ve always had fun going out alone with a dog, or with a small group of buddies. In college we’d always manage to get up early for opening day, but had a hard time getting up for a 9 am class. Suppose its all in what interests you.

This site is a mish-mash of experiences, gear, places, and friends I’ve met along the way and still continue to meet.

Ruby’s a part of the family and brings me great joy in watching her work.
